Basic Operations Walkthrough

Below you will find a helpful guide that will walkthrough the basic functionality of ATOM KNOWLEDGE. 

Sidebar functionality & Naming Conventions

1. Menu Bar:
- The buttons toward the left on the black line make up the menu bar, and the names of each button in order are as follows: (i). New (ii). Document (iii). Phrase (iv). Glossary (v). Settings (vi). Contact Us. 
2. New Button:
- The New button starts translating documents; you simply drag and drop files to this location or type in the text directly.
3. Document Button:
- The Document button opens a screen where a list propagates with all the previously translated documents; files are viewed, edited, or downloaded from this location.
4. Phrase Button:
-  The Phrase button opens a screen that manages the translation memory. Content is uploadable in TMX or CSV format.
5. Glossary Button:
- The Glossary button opens a screen that allows a glossary to be uploaded in TBX or CSV format; this type of dictionary will enable the AI to validate errors that commonly occur in machine translations.
6. Settings Button:
- The Settings button opens options that allow you to change the display language for the interface (English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese), which are currently available.

Starting Automatic Translations

1. Select the New button and enter the text you would like to translate within the textbox. Alternatively, you can upload PDF or Microsoft Office documents by dragging the file directly into the textbox.
2. The dropdowns are directly under the textbox to choose the text's or document's original language and select the language you would like the AI to translate it.
- If you wish to translate a document, its file type will be displayed within the textbox when it is correctly uploaded.
- Note when uploading PDF documents, a "No Data" error will sometimes appear. The document may not translate appropriately when the document is (scan data, multiple illustrations, and photos are within the doc).
3. Press the orange Start button to initiate the automatic translation. The AI will look through previously translated documents and the translation memory and utilize them to find a match.
4. Once the translation is complete; a reliability check is automatically performed. Once both phases are complete, a popup notification will advise the user to continue.
5. The Document Management screen appears; select the target document by double-clicking on it.
6. The next screen is a side-by-side comparison; this allows the user to analyze the translation line by line and make corrections as needed.
- The right side displays the results from the readability check, verifies each line with the translation memory, Glossary.
- The original text can also be modified on the left panel of the screen if necessary.
7. Press the "Save" button under the "Save in phrase collection" menu to add to the translation memory.
8. Once satisfied with the translation, download the file to the computer; the download file is available in multiple options.

Proper use of the Translation Memory

1. Viewing translation memories
- The translation memory is viewable in both its source and the targeted language by pressing the Phrase button. Adjustments can be made to the translation memory here as well.
2. Importing & Exporting the translation memory
- The import/export button will upload or download the current section, located toward the top-right side of the glossary & phase panels.
- Once the button is selected, choose instead to upload or download content, select the correct source language and choose a target language. A list of the supported target language is displayed below for assistance.
(i). When importing, select the Add File once your selection is complete.
(ii). When Exporting, select which file to export to when complete.
3. Deleting lines from the translation memory
- To delete the translation memory phrases, click the trashcan icon toward the right of the import/export button, then click verify to confirm the deletion.
WARNING: This button will delete all the phrases and is irreversible.

How to effectively use the Glossary

1. Click the Glossary button to browse its contents.
- The import/export button will upload or download the current section, located toward the top-right side of the glossary & phase panels.
- Once the button is selected, choose instead to upload or download content, select the correct source language and choose a target language. A list of the supported target language is displayed below for assistance.
(i). When importing, select the Add File once your selection is complete.
(ii). When Exporting, select which file to export to when complete.
2. Deleting lines from the translation memory
- To delete the translation memory phrases, click the trashcan icon toward the right of the import/export button, then click verify to confirm the deletion.
WARNING: This button will delete all the phrases and is irreversible.
- To delete a line item within the Glossary, hover over the intended line and click on the trashcan icon on the right side of the row.
3. Within the side-by-side comparison screen, add more terms by selecting the + button on the right corner of the screen.
- If a glossary is uploaded, you can choose to add a phrase to it by clicking the Glossary Selection tab.
- Enter the word or phrase within the given window, the top is delegated for the original text, and the lower window is for the translated text.
- Click the save button when complete 

Understanding the Translation Results

1. When a row is selected in a parallel view, the AI will display the Quality Assurance section when it is unable to verify a translation or assumes an error was made.
- Below a list of dictionary matches will display with possible translation the word could be
- A Translation Proposal list advises translation memory phrases already registered that could have a similar meaning to the translated word.
